Especially for the event "Info-Bus", being part of the project "827 qm", the Institute of Art History, the Center of Computing and the Department of Computer Science (chair I) at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen (Germany) established in cooparation with.the "Mehrwert e.V." an electronic museum REIFF II.
Notice: The Info-Bus is now closed, but the REIFF II Museum is still online.
The name "Reiff" refers to the former Reiff-Museum in Aachen. Nowadays the Institute of Art History and the Departement for Architecture are placed in this building. To the "Franz Reiff's stock" formerly belonged a few original paintings and also a number of copies and drawings which were used for instruction in arts. So the Reiff-Museum has always been a museum of copies. The name "Reiff" gets an ambiguous meaning by forming the initial letters of the term "Realized-Electronically-Illustrated-Fast-Frame". The new Reiff-Museum's distinguishing mark is "II", standing for "Interactive Information".

A computer will be provided for the project's duration where digitalized images can be stored. This machine is linked to computers all over the world via INTERNET. Scanned images can be stored in the museum by computer users via Internet and by audience in the REIFF Museum. The "Annahmestelle" (reception); where all images will appear first is opened to the public only for the purpose to deposit pictures there. Full admission to the "depot" and the "Annahmestelle" will only be allowed for the jury - this will prevent improper use, for instance pure pornography. From time to time the museum's stock will be actualized. The jury will sort out from a variety of material the pictures for the Reiff-Museum. The current state of the museum can be seen via INTERNET: you only have to pick out your favorite pictures. Please tell us about the picture of your choice.

Reiff II is - as a pilot-project - set between science and art. Perhaps it is a serious joke. The Electronic Museum "Reiff II" should be used as an instruction by those people who are interested in a virtual omnipresent art museumm. It demonstrates the technology of electronic reproduction. Corresponding to the traditional way of presenting paintings in conventional museums, in the "Reiff II" the screen will be modified to a "fast frame" where new art will appear whithout delay. So the reproduction of pictures becomes endlessly - a phenomenon that evokes uncertain consequences.
